It makes me want to tear my hair out.

The SECOND I log on to social media I am bombarded with businesses, local Riverland and afar and organisations that are lazily chucking information in to GPT and asking it to make captions up to try and "appeal" to me.

Unfortunately, you are a dead giveaway when you do it, because whilst GPT is smart, it has very particular formatting patterns that it rarely steers away from and it is VERY evident once you know them.

The emojis, the hyphens, the hashtags. It is all INCREDIBLY cringey.

And, what is more, its ruining your businesses reputation with your customers. Because they are like me, they like to learn about you and your product or service and they probably followed your page originally because they valued what you had to say, they WANTED to hear the advice that you were giving about what you were seeing in your work or industry.

BUT - now you are just like every other person on Facebook or Instagram. What was your individual voice has now become Chat GPT's individual voice and WE (speaking as your followers) realise that your opinions are no longer original - they are now vetted and checked and crafted by a piece of software.

Now I KNOW we are all time poor. And I KNOW we are all getting writers block when it comes to Social Media captions or content so I am going to offer you a compromise... use Chatgpt to generate some content IDEAS and then leave it up to you to actually create that content.

As your followers can we PLEASE have your voice back. We KNOW you weren't confident with your grammar, we KNOW sometimes you missed the odd comma, but that was how we knew you were speaking to us. That was your voice. What we ACTUALLY wanted to hear.

So please stop trying to artificially market to us. If we wanted to know ChatGPT's thoughts on your product or service we would ask it, and we could.
